Aspirin Mask to Fight Acne, Redness and Swelling Aspirin is over the counter drug that is used for different health conditions and to treat mild pain. Aspirin contains Salicylic Acid, also called Beta Hydroxyl Acid (BHA) that helps fight acne, redness and swelling. If I you use it in a form of a full-face mask you need 3-5 tablets of Aspirin (uncoated) dissolved in few drops of water to form a paste. To apply to acne spots directly (with a Q-tip) you will need half a tablet only. Don’t forget to perform a test on a small hidden area of your skin. Since the consistency of this mask is a bit runny you can modify is in a variety of ways: a) replace water with honey, yogurt, apple vinegar or aloe vera; b) use any moisturizer instead of water and make the mask less harsh; c) add aspirin powder into any clay, hydrating or soothing mask of your choice, this will make the mask less irritating and drying. Apply to the face avoiding eye zone. Leave for 15 minutes then rinse.
The
mask exfoliates skin and makes it more sensitive to sunlight. Make sure to
apply SPF 30 or more when exposed to sunlight. Don’t use the mask more than
once in 3-4 days for oily skin, and not more than once a week in all other
cases. It doesn't give dramatic results quickly, but if you're patient and
persistent, it does help, especially good to decrease redness and swelling
associated with acne.
Baking Soda And Toothpaste
Mask to Fight Acne Baking Soda helps to remove dead
skin cells that clog pores and kills certain types of bacteria that may cause
acne (Candida bacteria). To apply
backing soda as an acne treatment mix 1 tsp of baking soda (not baking powder)
with 2 tablespoons of water (add as needed to form a toothpaste like paste).
After washing your face with a mild cleanser apply gently to your skin. Once
you've coated your face with the mix, let it dry for about 15-20 min and rinse
it off.
If
this doesn’t help you can add a little bit of toothpaste (regular plain, not
gel or whitening) and dab the mix on the blemishes. However you should be
careful and start with backing soda mask first. Some people do have negative
reaction to toothpaste, so use it with care and do not leave for more than 15
minutes (do not leave overnight, especially if this is the 1st time use and you
don’t know your skin’s reaction) If the treatment burns on your skin wash it
off immediately.
Recommendations:
Baking soda can also be used for under the eye bags and dark circles. Soak
cotton round in baking soda solution (as described before) and put it under the
eyes for few minutes.
